Why VirtEwes?

Simple illustration of a stylized aloe vera plant with pointed leaves.

At VirtEwes, even our name tells a story. “Virtues” represent Godly character traits developed in each of us as we walk in relationship with Jesus. While “Ewes” (our favorite fluffy sheep) represent the little lambs that God has entrusted in to our care, to raise and disciple, and lead to the Good Shepherd.

Together, it becomes VirtEwes, a name as full of meaning as it as of joy.

OUR JOURNEY

God gave me the idea of VirtEwes back in 2017, when my oldest Child was a baby. I had just quit my elementary teaching job to become a full time Mom, and I quickly started thinking... “What are we gonna do together all day?” The teacher in me needed a plan! I still remember holding Emery in one arm, while searching online for Godly books for little girls that I could start reading with her. I didn’t see much that was both cute & meaningful. I wanted resources that would develop her character & teach her about Jesus from a young age... and I wanted it to be fun! Then, God brought my favorite verse to mind: John 10:27. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know, them, and they follow me.” As I held my baby Emy, my little ewe, the name VirtEwes entered my mind.

  • Since then, I’ve created resources for my now 3 kids and have loved tailoring activities to their personalities and needs. When God laid the idea of A New Ewe on my heart, I had a blast writing it... but figuring out how to actually publish it felt wildly overwhelming. Although I’ve read thousands of children’s books as a teacher and mom, publishing one was uncharted territory. Busyness, uncertainty, and fear of failure kept the idea in my head. But if I’m trying to teach my kids to be obedient to God, then I need to lead by example. With the encouragement of my husband & wanting to fulfill what God had placed on my heart, in 2023 we decided to figure it out.

Self-Publishing has been a humbling & educational ride, but we are here & I am excited to share a piece of my heart with y’all. I pray A New Ewe, and all of our other resources, help discipleship become an intentional, seemless rhythm in your home as you share the Gospel with your kids & Bring the Word to Your Herd each day. I believe that obedience unlocks blessing. As I take this step of faith, I pray that God is glorified through it all & that many families are blessed. Thanks for joining us as we launch A New Ewe.

Did you know that sheep are the most talked about animal in the entire Bible?

In fact, they are mentioned over 500 times. That’s a lot! If God talks about something over & over, we want to lean in. In our culture, sheep are viewed as easily deceived, distracted, & directionally challenged... Though I don’t like to admit it, I can relate to all of those things!

How kind of God to see our flaws & willingly call Himself our Good Shepherd. His desire is to walk with His sheep and lead us to fulfill our unique purpose, despite our sinful nature. In fact, because God loves us, He sent his son Jesus, to be the perfect, sacrificial Lamb to pay the punishment of our sins, so that we wouldn’t have to! Through His death & resurrection, He made a way for us to walk in close relationsheep with God. Jesus is now seated on the throne above, and if we believe in Him, our names will be written in the Lambs book of Life!
